Optimists' Breast
Cancer Walk Raises $23,000
The sixth annual Breast
Cancer Walk took place on Sunday,September 30th through the scenic streets of Knowlton on a
beautiful fall day. There were 271 walkers and this did not include numerous babies in strollers
and many of our canine friends. Most notable were the numbers of families that came out to enjoy
the day and lend their support to this worthy cause.
As a result of their efforts, the Yamaska Valley Optimists raised $23,000,
bringing their total donations for breast cancer treatment in recent years to almost $150,000.
This year's proceeds will go directly to the Oncology Fund of the BMP Foundation, earmarked
specificallyfor the purchase of a new gamma probe.
The BMP Foundation is once again pleased to be associated with this event and
wish to thank all of the organizers and participants who made the day such a great success.
The Yamaska Valley Optimist Club is a woman's Optimist Club serving
theBrome-Missisquoi area.
