BMP Foundation Invests $500,000 for New Projects, Services
The BMP Foundation continues to make important investments to improve the
resources and services within the BMP Hospital and the broader health care network throughout our
region. Recent investments include:
Over $460,000 committed for new equipment:
$180,000 in new upgrades to the PACS system for processing, transferring and
archiving digital Xray and scan images within and beyond the BMP Hospital
$160,000 for new endoscopic purchases within the BMP Surgery unit, including new colonoscope, new
gastroscope and peripheral surgical equipment
$105,000 for additional
capacity within the Hospital’s client data base for increased efficiency and speed in
accessing patient charts, clinical results and records
$20,000 for a
laboratory software upgrade for the BMP Laboratory.
$38,000 for a Nursing Intern Program . . . One of
the most acute challenges facing the BMP, and most every health care centre across the country, is
that of recruiting and retaining qualified nurses and professionals. One way the BMP hopes to
address this will be by implementing a Nursing Intern program, to attract nurses and build
relationships as they complete their training and prepare to enter the workforce. The BMP
Foundation will provide $38,000 to the BMP Hospital this year to underwrite this important
initiative.
Anti-infection Display Units . . . Another key
challenge every health centre faces today is the ongoing struggle in the fight against infection
transfer. One way the BMP is addressing this problem is by having volunteers at the doors of the
Hospital and other CSSSLP facilities, encouraging people to wash their hands before entering and
leaving the building. Over 40 volunteers are currently helping with this program (if you can help
we’d love to have you . . . call Dr. Bob Pincott at 450-263-2621 for more info). The BMP
Foundation will provide over $5000 to provide proper dispenser units for these volunteers at over
21 locations across the CSSS La Pommeraie.
