Halloween Canvas Nets
$2800 for Medical Equipment
November 27, 2008,
Cowansville :
Halloween door-to-door solicitation by local youngsters has
resulted in a net donation to the BMP Foundation of over $2800.
Over 1500 youngsters from seven schools participated in the activity, taking
collection boxes door-to-door when “trick or treating” on Halloween
evening. The seven schools included St-Léon, Sainte-Thérèse and
Curé- A. Petit of Cowansville, Ecole de la Clé-des-Champs of Dunham, St-Francis of
Assisi of Frelighsburg, Saint-Vincent Ferrier of Adamsville, and Sutton School.
"Students were delighted to participate in this fundraising activity",
explains Patrice Beaumont, school principal of École de la Clé-des-Champs of
Dunham, who helped spearhead the initiative. "The youngsters were delighted to do something
for the community. Several of them have parents who work in the Hospital and the children
were thrilled to know that their efforts were helping their parents and that the money was going to
“their hospital”. Given their reaction, we look forward to the possibility of
doing this again next year, and hopefully involving other schools within the region as well.”
The Foundation was equally delighted with the results. “Having
youngsters experience the value and satisfaction of community involvement and support is an
important long-term investment, not simply for our Foundation but for the long-term health of the
entire community,” added BMP Foundation President, Pierre Marziali. “We are delighted
to have partnered with the schools in this project.”
Special thanks also goes out to Foundation volunteer Brenda Ladd, who spent three
full days rolling pennies and small change to wrap up the project.
