Artisans Raise
$5,200
Organizers from this
year’s Eighth Annual Cowansville Handicraft Show have presented a cheque of $5200 to the BMP
Hospital Foundation, representing net profits from this year’s show held in Davignon Park,
Cowansville in early July. Close to 100 artisans displayed
their wares, including such items as wooden toys, jewelry, home cooking, quilted material,
paintings, stained glass, homemade candy, knitted goods, wooden furniture and table cloths and
accessories. Notwithstanding the inclement weather, several thousand people came to browse and buy.
Other displays included presentations by the Surete du Quebec and the RCMP, the
Cowansville Fire Department, as well as pottery and wood-carving demonstrations. Visitors also
enjoyed musical presentations, as well as electrical train rides throughout the park
and rides through town on fire trucks provided by the Cowansville Fire Department.
The BMP Foundation thanks event organizers Alan Webb, Tait Hauver and Jim
Fulford, as well as all participating vendors, the Town of Cowansville, Loblaws, Wattman Trains,
the Surete du Quebec, the RCMP, the Cowansville Fire Department, Robert Campbell
(electrician), Impressions Alain Daigle, and individuals Sylvie Bernard, Yvon Pepin, Tyler
Lacroix, Sam Crossfield, Sonja Crossfield and Manuel Godard.
