Traveller Gary Allen bikes for the BMP Hospital in memory of local poet Wayne Robinson

August 1, 2009: Gary Allen, Cowansville resident and retired Massey-Vanier High School teacher, keeps fit by riding his bicycle seven days a week. Allen is a long time supporter of the BMP Foundation and a regular biker in the BMP Bike-a-thon. In the last BMP Bike-a-thon in 2007 Gary raised an impressive $1047 through pledges from family and friends.

On July 29th Allen and his wife, Dawn left home in their camper for an epic road trip that will take them through Canada and the US with an important stop in Kelowna, British Columbia where they will attend their son’s wedding. While Allen will not be home in time for the BMP Bike-a-thon on September 13th he still wants to participate. He makes the following commitment: “During our trip I will cycle a minimum of 30 kilometers per week on behalf of the Bike-a-thon”.

Allen goes on to explain: “I am biking to raise funds for the BMP Foundation, to help maintain my personal fitness and as a tribute to Wayne Robinson, a recently deceased friend and poet.

I hope that my supporters will sponsor my ride by sending their pledges directly to the BMP Foundation at 950 Principale Street, Cowansville  QC  J2K 1K3. Cheques should be made payable to the BMP Bike-a-thon.”
