Annual solicitation
In 2023-2024, the BMP Foundation invested a beautiful cumulated $900,000 in equipment and programs. An achievement we owe to the immense generosity of the people of Brome-Missisquoi.
This incredible amount includes over $614,000 directed to the acquisition of medical equipment, and especially the replacement of the set of scopes for the endoscopy and the purchase of a laser for urological surgeries. We also maintained our financial assistance to the youth of our region as well as its vulnerable population, and its elderly. To learn more about the impacts of these achievements, you can access our annual report.
But our mission is really only starting. Our aging population, our great community of sportspeople, imply important needs in care, now and in the future. For this reason, in 2024, the Orthopedic Clinic hired a new young surgeon. Since 2020, three orthopedic surgeons have joined the ranks of the amazing team of the Clinic, bringing its number to six doctors. These changes mirror the actual and future needs of our community.
This Holiday season, we at the BMP Foundation appeal once again to your generosity to allow our orthopedic surgeons to work with the best equipment possible, and consequently bring maximum results to their patients. For this, the Foundation would like to finance, among other things, orthopedic power tools, a distal femur distractor, and a surgical table extension. More about them on the back.
The BMP Foundation wishes to thank all of its donors who made possible the purchase of a second arthroscopy tower for the operating room and the orthopedic surgeons who use it. The tower makes for a less invasive intervention on the articulations of the shoulder and the knee. With the purchase of this second tower, the Hospital was able to open more interventions slots and reduce the waiting lists.
Thanks to your donations, the BMP Foundation would like to finance performant orthopedic tools, a combined value of over $116,000, to make sure that the team of orthopedic surgeons can operate to their full potential.
CONMED ORTHOPEDIC POWER TOOLS
Orthopedic power tools are used for multiple interventions on the bones. They are essential to most orthopedic surgeries.
SURGICAL TABLE EXTENSION
Mainly used during hip surgeries, this extension allows the surgeon to operate on both hips at the same time, hence limiting potential uncomfortable conditions to the patient and accelerating their recovery
FEMORAL DISTRACTOR
A new technology, this equipment allows an alignment of the head of the femur in the hip socket to give it time to re-form. It makes for a quicker and more comfortable intervention on the patient.
“Opening new time slots for orthopedic surgeries and adding a new surgeon to the team made it necessary to increase the stock of tools and their accessories that need to be methodically sterilized in-between surgeries. Thank you to the BMP Foundation for this investment.”
“I joined the rank of the BMP Hospital orthopedic surgeon team in 2024. Thanks to my experience in the Canadian Armed Forces, I have brought a new set of skills when it comes to hip surgeries. The financial investment of the BMP Foundation allows me to work with the most modern techniques and best tools. Thank you to all its donors!”
On behalf of the board of the BMP Foundation, and its team, we wish you a very merry Holiday season, and a happy New Year!
May it bring you serenity, peace, and love.
