The 2020 BMP Oktoberfest in its new formula captured the hearts of the citizens of Brome-Missisquoi. The BMP Hospital Foundation is pleased to announce that the event generated $22,000 in profits! Partners of the event and volunteers prepared 100 Oktoberfest meals respecting the finest Bavarian tradition! On Saturday evening, 400 people enjoyed a delicious sauerkraut with all the fixings, potato salad, pretzels and mini apple cupcakes, accompanied by our official BMP Oktoberfest growler filled with West Shefford Brewers’ Garde-Malade beer.
The sun was shining during the drive-through service this Saturday from noon to 6:00 pm and volunteers were able to put on their best Oktoberfest dresses for the participants’ delight, many of whom stopped to take pictures. With a musical Bavarian atmosphere provided by a small speaker, the spirit of the traditional Oktoberfest was there despite the masks and the necessary distancing.
First online auction
In conjunction with the Bavarian Feast, the BMP Foundation’s one and only auction in 2020 was posted online a week before the event. Bidding closed at noon the following day, Sunday, October 18. For this first edition, many participants joined in the auction game in support of the BMP Foundation.
Investments for the Surgical Suite
As in previous years, the funds raised will be used to finance equipment and projects dedicated exclusively to the BMP Hospital. The success of previous editions of the event has resulted in the complete redevelopment of the BMP Hospital Orthopedic Clinic. The clinic was inaugurated in March of this year and has already treated many patients in its more comfortable environment.
This year, the funds raised will be invested in the purchase of new medical equipment for the BMP Hospital’s Operating Room. These acquisitions will provide a better quality of care to patients in the interest of continuous improvement at the Brome-Missisquoi-Perkins Hospital.
