The Brome-Missisquoi-Perkins Hospital Foundation is pleased to organize two training sessions dedicated in priority to Brome-Missisquoi physicians!

Physicians may enroll in either or both of these courses consecutively.

The training will be held in French at the Domaine de l’Artisan located at 396 chemin Hallé in Brigham (J2K 4J5).

1. Cours ÉDU-1 Classique Plus – December 2, 2022

Ultrasound in the Emergency Department.

Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, each physician will be able to use targeted ultrasound to detect:

  • Global cardiac activity;
  • Abdominal free fluid (traumatic or ascites);
  • Abdominal aortic aneurysms;
  • Intrauterine pregnancies;
  • Pneumothorax and pleural effusions.

Target Audience:

Practicing physicians and resident physicians. The knowledge acquired from this training may be used as an adjunct to the physical examination in the emergency department, office, intensive care unit, floor, or during home visits.

Prerequisite:

None

Course Format:

Approximately 8 hours of online self-study prior to the training day, followed by a full day of practice on healthy and ill patients.  Ratio of 1 device to 2 participants.

Cancellation policy:

For cancellations made up to 3 weeks prior to the start of the activity, an administrative fee of $200 will be retained. If the cancellation request is made less than 3 weeks before the beginning of the course, no refund will be made.

Only in cases of force majeure (e.g. hospitalization of the participant, death of an immediate family member), it will be possible to refund the registration fee. An administrative fee of $200 will be retained.

If a participant wishes to cancel his or her registration without having to pay the administrative fee, he or she may sell his or her registration to a colleague or to a physician on the waiting list at any time.  This transaction will be between the two physicians; the BMP Foundation will not act as an intermediary in this transaction, except to send a notice to the physicians on the waiting list.

2. Bootcamp ÉDU-1 Independent Practitioner – December 3 and 4, 2022

Basic Targeted Ultrasound Bootcamp.

Objectives:

Upon completion of this training, each physician will achieve CPoCUS Independent Practitioner status in Basic Focused Ultrasound. With this certification, each physician will be self-sufficient and safe in the use of targeted ultrasound for specific indications.

During the training, each participant will be required to evaluate, under supervision:

  • 50 hearts (pericardium and global activity)
  • 50 abdominal aortas (aneurysm search)
  • 50 abdomens (search for free fluid)
  • 50 uteri (search for free fluid and intrauterine pregnancy)
  • 20 hemithorax (search for pneumothorax and pleural effusion)

In addition, he will have to pass the written, visual and practical exams.

Target audience:

Physicians in practice and resident physicians. The knowledge acquired in this training will improve the clinical evaluation done in the emergency room, office, intensive care unit, floor or during home visits.

Prerequisite: 

Completion of an introductory focused ultrasound course that includes written didactic material about the physics of ultrasound, sonoanatomy, and sonopathology, in addition to at least 4 hours of online or face-to-face presentations and at least 5 supervised cases for each anatomic region. Ideally, you should have already participated in an EDU or equivalent course.

Course Format:

The EDU Bootcamp is a full 2-day face-to-face training.  The final visual exam will be done online with an instructor in the following days. Ratio of 1 device for every 2 participants.
