The Oncology patients support fund

Following the fundraising event “Rasons nos cocos” organized on May 8, 2017, the Brome-Missisquoi-Perkins Hospital Foundation set up a fund specifically dedicated to cancer patients.

The Brome-Missisquoi-Perkins Hospital Foundation is proud to present the first project organized in collaboration with Yoga and Movement and CIUSSS de l’Estrie-CHUS. Yoga sessions specifically adapted for patients with cancer or in remission will be offered free of charge. This innovative project was made possible thanks to the Patient Oncology Support Fund implemented by the BMP Foundation during the fundraising event “Rasons nos cocos”. We are pleased to be able to support these people going through a difficult time.

Admission conditions to the program

This activity is for all users of the BMP Hospital actively receiving treatments (chimiotherapy/radiotherapy) or within three months following the end of their treatments or following their surgery. Residents of the Brome‐Missisquoi area also affected by the decease but are receiving their treatment in another CIUSSSE‐CHUS installation are also admited. The program offers a free full session. One session consists of 5 classes of 90 minutes each. It should be noted that no yoga experience is required and that the classes will be given in Knowlton or Bromont, depending on the number of registered participants.

A qualified professor

The project was developed with Laura Hernandez, a certified “Yoga4cancer” teacher and holistic wellness consultant. To provide people with an optimal experience, Laura Hernandez will use a combination of several tools during her yoga sessions: gentle yoga postures and movements, breathing exercises, meditation, relaxation, writing exercises, as well as sounds and music.
