The Yamaska Valley Optimist Club and the Brome-Missisquoi-Perkins Hospital Foundation are proud to announce the results for the 24th edition of the Walk to Fight All Cancers, which took place at the Lac-Brome Community Centre on October 5th.
The local community showed up in grand numbers this year with over 200 people coming out to support those that are affected by cancer. As a result of this participation and the generous donations from walkers and sponsors, over 204,000 $ was raised for the prevention and treatment of cancers at the Brome-Missisquoi-Perkins Hospital!
A special thank you to Promutuel Assurance du St-Laurent et aux Appalaches for their surprise donation of $115,000 in support of the Walk. Your generosity does not go unnoticed!
Other major donors for this year’s event include “Friends for Life” ($10,000) and the Oddfellows in Knowlton ($6,250), thank you for your generosity!
We also want to extend a sincere thank you to our sponsors Pharmacie Jean Coutu Julie Coderre Sabrina Parent and Olivier Marte and MNP, and to our partners Brûlerie Virgin Hill, Maitre Glaciers Bromont and les Amis de Delphine for helping us make this event a success.
All the funds raised during this event were used to purchase a modernized mammography machine for the BMP Hospital. The current mammography machine was at the end of its life and needed to be replaced to maintain access to the service. This investment will help ensure the continuity, and enhancement, of breast cancer scans for women in Brome-Missisquoi through the reduction of service interruptions and improving access to surgical care for at-risk patients.
